Reliance announced all new Jio Glass at its virtual AGM event.

Before we get hands-on Apple Glass, we have the all-new Jio Glass announced by Reliance India at its virtual AGM online event. The first augmented reality (AR) smart glass from Reliance Jio will hit the stores this year both online and in offline stores in India.

Jio Glass features high resolution display, 3D video call that be connected to your smartphone. It offers mixed reality content, and over 25 in-built applications. User can share the presentations via these AR based glasses in a virtual screen. These all new glasses has been designed for teachers and students to enable 3D virtual rooms and conduct holographic classes through Jio mixed reality cloud in real-time and that too in an affordable manner.

The glasses weighs just 75g and comes with personalized audio feature. In order to access any type of content on this smart device, there’s a simple cable that can be attached to your smartphone. The AR based glasses will connect to the internet through the cable. On the front of the headset is a high tech single camera, and glass looks similar to any regular sunglasses, although these are thicker.

You can make calls using these AR based glasses by simply saying – Hello Jio, please call [name of person A]. Apart from this, users can join the video call using holographic video calls option as well as 2D video call option. The most classic thing about all new glasses from Jio once they are released, will be the seamlessly network connection, as Jio 5G will soon facilitate the video conferences right in front of the user’s eyes. Jio will begin testing 5G in India as soon as the spectrum is auctioned.

It will be available for both individual use and businesses in India. Jio AR based Glass global launch will also be announced soon.

The price of Jio Glass will hover around $200 (INR 14000). The price in India is on the higher side because of premium features. It is a part of make in India product.

Jio Glass will be shipping starting next early next year, around March 2021.

These will be available in different colors : White, Black and Blue.

Jio is also working with Google to create a new Android based OS for its Jio phones. Google and Jio are partnering to build an operating system that could power a value engineered, entry-level 4G/5G smartphone. Company has promised that this new smartphone will be the cheapest 5G device powered by Android based operating system in India. Google will invest $4.5 billion in Jio platforms for a 7.7% stake, respectively. Jio has created a complete 5G solution from scratch, that will enable them to launch a world-class 5G service in India, using 100% homegrown technologies along with the solutions.
