Microsoft Defender ATP app for Android launched

Microsoft has announced public preview of mobile threat defense capabilities with Microsoft Defender ATP app for Android devices.

Microsoft today announced the Microsoft Defender ATP app for Android devices to tackle unique threats arising in the mobile space arena. Microsoft new application for Android is now available for public preview and will offer protection against phishing along with any unsafe network connections coming from applications, blogs, and other malicious apps.

Furthermore, Advanced Threat Protection application from Microsoft will help the companies and enterprises to secure their users and data on their Android devices from any kind of virus. This new antivirus app will offer all events and alerts that will be available through a single pane of glass in the Microsoft Defender Security Center, thus giving security teams a centralized view of threats on Android systems along with other platforms.

Some of the features the new Defender application will offer are -:

  • Web Protection – This app will help to address the challenges arising from phishing with Anti-phishing features along with blocking unsafe contents, and providing custom indicators to users by supporting them with more fine-grained control over allowing and blocking URLs and domains.
  • Malware scanning – This new application uses cloud protection technology powered by deep learning and heuristics to provide coverage for low-fidelity signals which are inconclusively handled by signatures, in addition to offering signature based malware detection. This protection extends to both malicious apps and files on the device.
  • Blocking access to any sensitive data – Another important aspect of this Defender App is providing an additional layers of protection against malicious access to sensitive corporate information is offered by integrating with Microsoft Endpoint Manager, which includes both Microsoft Intune along with Configuration Manager.
